Creating Sequences and Evaluations

Sequences and Evaluations are groups of Actions. To create a Sequence or Evaluation, you select Actions and group them together using the Action Queue. The same process is used for both Sequences and Evaluations, with only two differences: the initial button selected and the Test Type field value.

The Action Queue allows you to select a group of content from the library and then work with them to build Sequences, Evaluations, or just run the group immediately without saving it. The Action Queue is also used when you create a copy of an existing Sequence or Evaluation.

NOTE: When there are Actions in the queue, the Queue button appears next to the Add Action and Add Sequence or Add Evaluation buttons. Initially a single number appears. If you go back and forth between the Queue and the Actions page though, you may see the numbers displayed as n (n).
- The number not in parentheses is the number of Actions assigned to a group.
- The number in parentheses is the number of Actions not assigned to a group.

To Create a Sequence or Evaluation

1. Click Library > Actions.

2. Select two or more Actions to add to the queue.

   1. Select Multiple Actions - Dimension, Tag, or Text search:

      1. Use a Dimension, tag, or text search, to narrow your list.

      2. Click Queue (next to the Actions column title) and select New Evaluation from All or New Sequence from All. This will open the Create Test page, populate the details, and create groups of Actions based on the type of Action.

   2. Select Multiple Actions - Keyboard selection.
      1. Use the standard Shift + Click method to select consecutive Actions
      2. Or use the standard Ctrl + Click, or Cmd + Click to select non-consecutive Actions.

      3. Click Queue (next to the Actions column title) and select New Evaluation from Selected or New Sequence from Selected. This will open the Create Test page, populate the details, and create groups of Actions based on the type of Action.

         NOTE: If you first use the Keyboard selection to select Actions and then use a Dimension, tag, or text search to narrow the list, only the selected Actions that are visible are added to the queue when you click Add Selected.

3. (Optional) Reorder your Actions, add groups, name groups, add Sleep Actions (see Sleep Actions for more information), and remove Actions that you do not want to include in the Sequence.

   1. To create groups of Actions, click the + button to the right of the Actions.

      NOTE: You can add an Action multiple times if there is only one copy per group. If you have the Action in a group twice, it adds (duplicate) to the second Action.

      NOTE: Email Actions, DNS Actions, and Cloud Actions cannot be grouped with other Actions. You must have a separate Email group, a separate DNS group, and a separate Cloud Group.

      NOTE: Host CLI Actions and Protected Theater Actions can only be grouped with each other if the Protected Action is identified as a Host CLI Action.

   2. To move Actions, select one or more Actions at a time.
      1. Use the standard Shift + Click method to select consecutive Actions
      2. Or use the standard Ctrl + Click, or Cmd + Click to select non-consecutive Actions.
   3. To rename a group, click the group name area. Clicking Save or clicking out of the group name field saves the name.
4. (Optional) Add additional Actions.
   1. Click the Back to the Library button or the + Actions to the Queue button.
   2. Select one or more Actions and click + Queue. This adds the Actions to the unassigned area of the Action Queue.

   3. Click Queue to return to your Sequence or Evaluation.

      IMPORTANT: You must click Queue. If you click New Evaluation or New Sequence, the Actions in the Queue are all moved moved to the Action Queue's trash.

5. (Optional) Add groups of Actions from a Sequence or Evaluation.
   1. Go to Library > Sequences or Library > Evaluations.
   2. Select a Sequence or Evaluation and click + Queue. This adds the groups of Actions to the Action Queue.
   3. Click Queue to return to your Sequence or Evaluation.

6. (Optional) If you want to verify your setup will work as expected, click Run Ad Hoc. This displays the Select Actors page and allows you to run your Sequence. After the Job runs, you can return to the Queue and make changes before saving the Sequence or Evaluation.

7. Click Save. The Sequence or Evaluation is created, and the Run Sequence or Run Evaluation page displays.

NOTE: For Cloud Action groups, you only select a single Actor, rather than a selection of source and destination Actors.

Sleep Actions

The platform stores all Sleep Actions you have created and adds them to the Add Sleep Action menu. When you click Add Sleep Action, you have 3 options:

• Click a Sleep Action to add the Sleep Action to the unassigned Actions Group.
• Click New Sleep Action to display a form where you enter time in minutes (you can enter fractions of a minute in the form of 0.x.), and then click Submit. This adds your new Sleep Action to the unassigned Actions group.
• Click Bulk Insert Sleep Action to display a form where you can select an existing Sleep Action. When you click Submit, it adds that Sleep Action between every Action in every group.

  NOTE: It does not add a Sleep Action after the last Action in a group, which means it also does not add a Sleep Action to a group with only one Action.
