Clone or Edit a Sequence or Evaluation

When you clone or edit an existing Sequence or Evaluation, the Action Queue is used. The same process is used for both Sequences and Evaluations, with only the Test Type field requiring a different value.

The Action Queue allows you to select a group of content from the library and then work with them to build Sequences, Evaluations, or just run the group immediately without saving it. The Action Queue is also used when you create a copy of an existing Sequence or Evaluation.

Cloning an Evaluation is used in this example.

  1. Click Library > Evaluations.
  2. Select the Evaluation to see the Evaluation Preview and then click Clone and Edit. The Evaluation is created and the Edit Evaluation page appears.

Validation Threat Actor Alias tags are copied to the new Evaluation as Validation Threat Actor Alias tags so results of Jobs will appear on the TAAM Dashboard. All other tags are copied over as User Tags.

If the Action Queue is already populated, you are prompted to clear your current Action Queue.

    Edit Evaluation page

  3. (Optional) To add Actions, click Action to Queue. This opens the Action Library, where you can select Actions and add them to the Queue. To return to the Queue, click Queue.

When going back to the Actions Library, changes you made to the Action Queue remain unless you click Delete.

    1. Select an Action and click Queue.
    2. Select Multiple Actions - Dimension, Tag, or Text search.

      1. Use a Dimension, tag, or text search, to narrow your list.
      2. Click Queue (next to the Actions column title) and select Add All to Queue This moves all Actions listed to the Queue.

    3. Select Multiple Actions - Keyboard selection

      • Use the standard Shift + Click method to select consecutive Actions
      • Use the standard Ctrl + Click, or Cmd + Click, to select non-consecutive Actions.
    4. Click Queue (next to the Actions column title) and select Add Selected to Queue. This moves all selected Actions to the Queue.
  4. (Optional) To delete an Action from a group, click on the x next to the Action to delete.
  5. (Optional) To create a new group, click the + next to the Action to be the last Action of the previous group.
  6. (Optional) To reorder the Actions, click and drag one or more Actions to a new position.

    • You can add an Action to a Sequence multiple times as long as there is only one copy per group. If you have the Action in a group twice, it adds (duplicate) to the second Action.
    • Email and DNS Actions cannot be grouped with other Actions; you must have a separate Email group and a separate DNS group.
    • Host CLI Actions and Protected Theater Actions can only be grouped with each other if the Protected Action is identified as a Host CLI Action.
  7. (Optional) To add a Sleep Action, click Add Sleep Action and choose the desired option. See Sleep Actions for more information.
  8. (Optional) To rename a group, click the group name area. Clicking Save or clicking out of the group name field saves the name.
  9. (Optional) If you decide you don't want to keep your edits, click Cancel Edit - Clear Queue.

NOTE: Clicking Cancel Edit - Clear Queue empties the Action Queue but does not delete the Evaluation you created. If you also want to delete the Evaluation, select it in the Evaluation library and click Delete.

  10. Update the Evaluation fields as necessary and then click Update Evaluation. Your Evaluation is updated and you can see the changes when you preview the Evaluation in the Evaluation Library.

    1. Verify that the Test Type shows Evaluation.
    2. (Optional) Edit the Name.
    3. (Optional) Update the Description.

Edit Sequences or Evaluations that are connected to a Monitor

If you edit a Sequence or an Evaluation that is used in a Monitor, that Monitor becomes disconnected and does not run again until you review and update the Monitor configuration. See Working with Disconnected MA-SV Monitors for additional info.
