Security Validation's backup mechanism performs an application-level database backup, which includes the following:
- Validation Platform license file
- User accounts
- All settings configured on the Director
- All security content (Actions, Sequences, Evaluations, and Files), including custom content you created or imported
- All Monitors and Monitor configurations
- Jobs, Job results
- Reports created in Report Builder and customizations made to other reports
- Endpoint files and PCAPs
- Actors (including virtual addresses, if configured)
- Security technology definitions
- (Optional) SSL certificate
Backup Limitations
The backup mechanism does not perform a system-level backup (e.g., operating system, routing tables), therefore the following items are not included in the backup file.
- Interface configuration
- Routing information
- Custom iptables rules
