Manage Security Validation Content

The Content Settings page allows you to disable the Content Service or automatically applied Content Service imports. You can also import or export content and see what content is available.

Not all information described here is available on both Mandiant Security Validation (MSV) and Mandiant Advantage Security Validation (MA-SV). If only available on either MSV or MA-SV, it is called out for you.

In the Content Service Sync table (MA-SV only), you can see the following information:

  • Content Service status

  • Last Completed Sync of the Content Service

  • Next Sync of the Content Service

In the Content Updates table, you can see the following information:

  • File Name

  • Status

  • Minimum Version

  • Action Count

  • Sequence Count

  • Evaluation Count

  • File Count

  • Uploaded By

  • Applied By

  • Timestamp

  • Actions

In the Action, Sequence, Evaluation, and File Count columns, the number without parentheses indicates the total number of those items in the content pack. The number inside the parentheses indicates the number of items included in the content pack that are not currently in your Director, either because they are new or an updated version of an existing item.

When content is uploaded by the Content Service, no user is recorded under the Applied By column.

Content packs imported in the past 90 days are listed in the Actions Library, allowing you to quickly identify and run new and updated Actions.

Disable or enable the Content Service (MA-SV only)

When you enable the Content Service, it determines automatic reception of content, which is then automatically downloaded and staged on the Director when Mandiant approves it. When disabled, you must manually apply any desired content packs.

If your license was created or renewed after January 1, 2022, Enable Content Service must be set to Yes under Advanced Settings and cannot be modified. For these licenses, if communication doesn't occur at least once every 15 days, your Director will stop running Jobs until a connection occurs. The connection tracking is included in the Operational Status monitoring. See Operational Status for more information.

  1. Go to Settings > Director Settings.
  2. From the Settings menu, click Content.
  3. Click Content Service Actions.
  4. Select one of the following options, after which the Disable / Enable Content Service window displays:
    • Disable Content Service
    • Enable Content Service

  5. Click Confirm to disable or enable Content Service.

Disable or enable auto apply content service imports (MA-SV only)

The Auto Apply Content Service setting controls whether content downloaded through the Content Service is automatically applied to the Director after it has been staged. When you disable this feature, you must manually import each staged pack in a similar fashion to manual VAS pack uploads in the application. The default for this setting depends on the initial version of the Director.

  1. Go to Settings > Director Settings.
  2. From the Settings menu, click Content.
  3. Click Content Service Actions.
  4. Select one of the following options:
A flash card message displays that confirms your selection.

    • Disable Auto Apply Content Service Imports
    • Enable Auto Apply Content Service Imports
