Operational Status: Actor Tests

This table outlines all Operational Status tests that are available for Actors.

Before any Actor tests begin, a Communications Test is run to verify the Actor and Director can communicate. If the Communications Test fails, no other Actor tests will run.

Not all Actor tests are supported for all types of Actors. For example, NTP tests are not supported for Windows Actors. Therefore, this Actor will produce fewer tests than other Actors.

Validate Actor Versions

Verifies all Actors are running the current version.

DNS Resolution Test

DNS servers must be configured, and the domain name must be provided.

Checks whether Actors can access DNS servers and resolve the domain name provided.
NTP Server(s) Test
  • Only runs on CentOS7 Actors.

  • If NTP is set to System Time on the Network Actor, this will result in a failure.

Checks whether NTP servers are accessible.

Actor Time Skew Test
Checks whether the Actors and the Director are using the same time.
Verify Services Running
Checks whether Actor services are running.
Email Test

The Email Theater module must be configured, and the Actor must have at least one Email Profile configured.

Uses Actors' Email Profiles to check the connectivity, authentication, and ability to read the inbox. Email tests do not attempt to send any emails.
Validate Protected Actor Snapshot Aging

Checks the date of the latest Protected Actor snapshot. If this test is enabled, you need to specify a snapshot age (days). The test fails if the snapshot is older than the age specified. By default, the test checks whether Protected Actor snapshots are older than 10 days.
