Bulk Registration Tokens

The Bulk Registration Tokens section of the Actors page is where you create and manage the tokens that you use for installing and registering your Actors. The primary purpose of these tokens is to expedite the install and registration process. Based on your environment, you can use the token to install and register or just to register after the Actor is installed.

  • Install and Register:
    • Simple Actor installation can be used when no proxy is required. You do not need to select Interfaces, and for Linux Actors, the Validation Platform can manage the firewall
    • Use the Installer button

NOTE: There are two options under the Installer button. When you download the installer, you can review/update the code if necessary

  • Register:
    • You manually install your Actors, but have multiple Actors in the same Zone that you want to register
    • Uses the Register Push option under the Actions menu (Network Actors) or just uses the code during installation (Endpoint Actors)

Bulk Registration Token

In the Bulk Registration Tokens section of the Actors page, columns left to right reads:
Name | Security Zone | Code | Remaining Uses | Max Uses | Status | Expiration Date | Actions
Remaining Uses column shows how many uses are still left of the token. As a user, when you are reading left to right, you see if there are any Remaining Uses first and then see if it has crossed the Max Uses limit signaling the token is expired. If you want to find out more, you can see the token Expiration Date. The status is calculated based on the Expiration Date value.

In addition to the Register Push option, there are three other options available to you under the Actions menu, as described in the table.

Menu itemDescriptionNotes
Show/Hide PendingDisplays a list of Actors that are attempting to register using the token. The button is a toggle that appears as "Hide Pending" if pending Actors are displayed. This is useful for troubleshooting, as it shows Actor registrations that have encountered an error.
DownloadCreates a CSV file containing details about all uses of the token. The CSV file contains one Actor per row and includes the name, description, management interface IP address, security zone, and OS of the Actor.
ClearRemoves the ability for the token to be used again. This does not affect any previous uses of the token.

The following are important facts to note about Bulk Registration Tokens Installers:

  • By default, installers are set to disable authenticity checks.
    • This allows installation when there is a self-signed SSL Director Cert.
    • Clearing the checkbox for Use for Self Signed SSL Director Certs adjusts the installers.
  • There are two options for each Operating System Installer: Download Installer (Option 1) and run a command (Option 2).
    • Use Option 1 if you need to review the installer script before you run it.
    • Use the copy button for Option 1 to copy the URL that can be used to download the installer.
    • For Mac and Linux Actors, Option 2 is the script you can run to install and register the Actor.
    • For Windows Actors, Option 2 is the same as the copy option of Option 1, providing the URL to download the zip file, which you then have to decompress and run.
  • The installer will not work if you have a Privileged Account Manager (PAM) without an additional step.
    • You can add the command being called into the PAM as allowed.
    • If available, open a privilege window and copy/paste into that.
