Validation Platform software updates include updates for the Director, Actors, Protected Theater, and the Protected Actors. Complete the following steps to update your Protected Theater and Protected Actors.
When you initiate a Protected Theater upgrade, you cannot upgrade the Protected Actor associated with that Protected Theater or run any Actions until the Protected Theater upgrade has successfully completed. Therefore, upgrade the Protected Theater before upgrading the Protected Actor.
To Update the Version of your Protected Theater and Protected Actor
- Go to Settings > Director Settings. The Systems Settings page opens.
- Scroll to the Actors section and update the Protected Theater by clicking its Update Actor button.
- After the Protected Theater update completes, locate the Protected Actor and click its Update Actor button.
You can also apply security patches to Protect Theaters, and check the version and check /force Time syncs for the Protected Theater and Protected Actor.
If the Service Startup Timeout field is less than 600 seconds, the Protected Actor will automatically reboot and create a snapshot. Otherwise, you must reboot and create the snapshot manually after updating. We strongly recommend you create a snapshot after updating your Actor.

- Clicking Check Version for a component will query the Director to confirm if the version that is being displayed for the component is the actual version of the component. Clicking Check Versions in the section header will check the version of all components in the table.
- All components will also have Check Time Sync, which when clicked shows any difference between the time of the component and the time of the Director. Using the Check Time Syncs button in the section header will check the time information of all components in the table.
The components having the same time as the Director, is necessary for a number of reasons, including being able to associate Events to their Job Actions.
