The Security Zones page displays a brief summary of the platform's Security Zones, including names, descriptions, and the attribute assignments they have, if any.
You can add, view, and delete Security Zones from this page.

Security Zones
The Validation Platform has four security zones by default: Internet, Internet Servers, Desktop Users, and DMZ. While the preset zones cover common categories, most people need to add additional zones to identify specific areas of their environment, such as different security zones in your network, business departments, regions of stores, different buildings, and so on. Think of security zones as tags for logical groupings in your environment.
When creating security zones, you are not limited to any particular area or category; you can create as many zones as you need to organize your environment.
The attributes associated with security zones impact other elements of the platform's functionality, including the Heat Map, Data Exfiltration Report, and Run Recommended.
Add Security Zones
- Launch the Director.
- Select Environment > Security Zones.
- Click Add Security Zone.
- Type the Name.
- Type a Description, if necessary.
Select the security zone's attribute(s).
Attribute assignments affect several areas of the platform. In the Heat Map, attributes are represented as the Attacker Location dimension option. In the Data Exfil Report, only Actions between security zones with the Internal or External attributes appear. For Actions provided in Security Validation content packs, attributes map to Source and Destination tags, which determine the source and destination Actors used in the Run Recommended option.
